Jett – you are growing up so fast! While there are many more ‘firsts’ yet to come, so many have already came and went. You are growing up to be such a funny little man, and you surprise me and mommy every day. We love you so much little son.

Brandi and I were on the hunt a couple months ago and found this cabinet in a garage sale. $20 sounded like a pretty good deal if you ask me… especially since it was solid wood! I had full intentions of taking ‘before’ pics, but apparently I was too ambitious and started sanding away… and then it was too late. Anyway, imagine this whole cabinet stained in a honey-oak color – no thanks! First I re-stained the top of the cabinet with a dark walnut stain. Then I applied a stencil I made at work, painted over it with the white paint, removed the stencil and voilà! The hardware was also a shiny brass, but a little brown ‘hammered’ spray paint took care of that :) Now we have a sweet little entry way cabinet! Total cost = $50!

Anyway, everybody knows how our summer has been so far, so I was checking the weather every 1/2 hour that Saturday! It ended up being a beautiful (and scorching!) day. We were finished shooting at 5:00 and out of nowhere we had a downpour at 5:30! Perfect timing or what! Jarrett and Keelie – you guys were amazing! We are so thankful that you invited us to capture you on your special day! We enjoyed it thoroughly, and we’re so happy for you! Best wishes, and thanks again!

Meet the winners – Clayton & Katt!

I was moved by their story which is why they won. Here’s the email I received from Katt one afternoon:

“Hello Nathan! My name is Katt and my husband of three years is Clayton. We are only 23 and have already gone through so much together. I am a recent immigrant from Texas… after 3 years of a (very) long distance relationship Clayton and I had planned on getting married in Texas where our wedding was planned. The border guard has final say in immigration matters and they refused Clayton entry because we only had a fiance visa. I chose to leave behind school (I was entering my third year at university), my family and friends at that moment. We discovered a loophole in Canadian legislature that, so long as we were married I could stay here until my visa came. We had to cancel our original wedding and plan a new one in two weeks. We were never able to have professional photos done and I do wish that could have been done differently. Now, we have a nine month old daughter. She takes up a lot of our energy but Clayton has always been good to set aside “us” time. Please consider us for your contest, it would mean a lot to both of us, and it would be a special treat for our upcoming 3rd anniversary (July 21st)! Thanks for taking your time to check us out! I couldn’t resist choosing them for the session. They seemed to be EXACTLY the couple I was looking for! We headed out of the city for a couple hours – and what a night. Clayton brought an antique accordion and his guitar, so between the soft music and the refreshing summer air, it was a beautiful evening!

Clayton & Katt – it was such a pleasure to capture you both. You are such a special pair, and I’m so glad to give back to someone so deserving! I wish you all the best in your life together!

Nash, Lisa – thanks for making the trip into the city for such a fun evening! Too bad all our balloons popped, I guess they weren’t meant to be haha. Enjoy!

Meet the Twiss family. I’ve known the Twiss’ for just under 15 years now, and they’re just one of those family’s you can’t forget. Every one of them is different, but yet amazingly the same. They’re wonderful, kind, funny and charming. Put all of them together and it’s a party. Quite literally. I had a case of the butterflies once I committed to the shoot, but within minutes they were gone. Within a flash the evening was gone and the session was over.

Twiss family – THANK you for an awesome weekend! Brandi and I are so glad to have had the opportunity to capture your family. We love you all, and feel so blessed to be a part of your lives.
