If you're a new bride looking for a rustic yet elegant venue for your Edmonton wedding, then look no further. The Whitewood Barn is one of the top wedding venue's in Edmonton. Being one of their preferred vendors, I've had the privilege of shooting several weddings at this stunning venue. Located just outside of Edmonton, in Millet, AB, it is only a 10 minute drive from the Edmonton International Airport, hotels, Costco & the Premium Outlet Mall.

This stunning venue has been designed to host your entire wedding day. The barn is surrounded by trees, and is nestled under a clear roofed pergola. There are cozy outdoor fire pits, a hidden secluded ceremony area, and plenty of room to take wedding photographs. It really has it all. Here's what you need to know about having your wedding at The Whitewood Barn, along with a few considerations for your wedding day.

Areas for Getting Ready

There are multiple options for areas to get ready at The Whitewood Barn. Although the barn itself is strictly for receptions and events, the house that dwells on the property is set up perfectly. There is a bridal suite in the basement where hair and makeup is typically done. You'll find a living room and washroom down there as well, perfect for those getting ready with you. Aside from that there is a stunning sun room addition on the main floor of the house. It's perfect for group shots, champagne toasts, and last minute adjustments. This particular room photographs beautifully because of all the natural light flooding through the roof and windows.

Ceremony Location

Picture a secret place tucked away in the woods, twinkle lights above, and wooden benches below. It really is a perfect ceremony location. The permanent wooden alter can be adorned with florals and decor, and there's more than enough seating to accommodate your guests. I personally love outdoor ceremonies, due to all the natural light. You'll have plenty of it at this adorable ceremony site.

Photography Locations

There are so many wedding photography locations at The Whitewood Barn. There is a gravel driveway enclosed with green spruce trees, old sheds, grass lawns, and fields behind the barn perfect for sunset photos in the evening. If it happens to be raining, the outdoor reception space is covered with clear roofing. No matter how big or small your wedding is, there's a place for photos, so don't worry about having to leave the property.

The Reception

The Barn speaks for itself - it's beautiful. There are plenty of seating options for you and your guests, both indoors and outdoors. What I really enjoy is when it's time for the Bride and Groom to make their grand entrance, the sliding doors are kept closed while everyone is seated, and then opened for everyone to welcome you in. It makes a statement for sure! After dinner, guests can head outdoors for cocktails and mingling. During summer months (even winter months too!) you can enjoy your first dance outside under the pergola, while guests can gather around with sparklers. There are patio heaters, fire pits and even a designated smoking area. Nothing has been forgotten. Your reception will be as perfect as you imagined.

Final Thoughts

The Whitewood Barn really does have it all. Once you arrive, you will be taken care of, and wont have to leave the property, which in my opinion is so much less stress for everyone attending (including you!). The staff is attentive and amazing, I assure you your day will go as smooth as possible. Do yourself a favor and book this one of a kind venue for your upcoming wedding.
